Treasurer Garrity and Rep. Irvin Tour Contamination Source Identification in Huntingdon

Harrisburg, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Representative Rich Irvin today toured Contamination Source Identification (CSI®) to discuss current economic conditions and the importance of innovation and development in Pennsylvania as part of Treasurer Garrity’s #MadeInPAMondays social media campaign.

“It’s really impressive to see the complex operations here at CSI as they work to develop a new diagnostic test. Giving health care providers faster access to more information will allow them to better diagnose and treat patients not just in Pennsylvania, but across the country. Companies like CSI need highly skilled workers and bring a big boost to our state economy.”

Pennsylvania State Treasurer, Stacy Garrity

CSI is an automated lab that provides proprietary clinical testing in their CLIA-certified laboratory with the goal of redefining how infectious diseases are diagnosed. Its bioinformatic and data-analysis techniques are designed to decrease turnaround time, getting information into providers’ hands more quickly. The company’s services provide physicians with accurate active pathogen identification to guide diagnosis and treatment of patients.

CSI is currently focused on developing tests designed to improve the treatment of sepsis and plans to expand its operations toward either the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh areas. The company was instrumental in processing COVID-19 tests during the pandemic for nursing homes, college athletics and other organizations.

“Huntingdon is home to many hidden gems, and CSI is one of them. The work they’re doing is impressive and in great demand in the health care space. This type of skilled manufacturing also provides valuable employment opportunities for the surrounding communities. I appreciate the opportunity to tour the facility and see first-hand the excellent work they’re doing.”

Pennsylvania Representative, Rich Irvin

“The technology we have developed at CSI will revolutionize clinical diagnostics, by simultaneously detecting thousands of microbial pathogens that are actively causing disease. We are poised to impact very challenging infectious diseases to help save lives in Pennsylvania and beyond.”
