Treasurer Stacy Garrity Celebrates the Hershey Bears’ Calder Cup Win with Unclaimed Property
Roaring for More: $101.4 million awaits those with winning names
Harrisburg, PA - To celebrate the Hershey Bears bringing home the Calder Cup, Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced today that more than $101.4 million is owed to 690,167 Pennsylvanians with a name or business name that includes the words Hershey, Bears, Calder, cup, ice, hockey, Mike, Michael, Vecchione, Hunter, or Shepard.

I also want to let Pennsylvanians know that they can win big, too, by skating over to our website and checking to see if they have unclaimed property waiting at Treasury. I encourage everyone to rally their friends and family to look, too. Roar at them if you have to! We don’t have the Calder Cup waiting in our vault, but we could have something valuable that belongs to you.”

Unclaimed property includes things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, insurance policies, tangible property like the contents of abandoned safe deposit boxes, and more. State law requires businesses to report unclaimed property to Treasury after three years of dormancy.
Treasury is currently seeking the owners of more than $4 billion in unclaimed property. One in ten Pennsylvanians is owed unclaimed property, and the average value of a claim is $1,600.
