Treasurer Stacy Garrity Announces Winners of PA 529 Day Promotion

More than $30,000 awarded to Pennsylvania families


Harrisburg, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity today announced the top award winner of this year’s PA 529 Day Promotion held in May. Bradley Getz of Montgomery County won the top award, a $5,290 deposit into the new PA 529 College and Career Savings Program Guaranteed Savings Plan (GSP) account he opened for his daughter.

Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced today that Karen McDermott, formerly with the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, is joining her staff as the new Manager of Children’s Savings Accounts (CSA), a position within Treasury’s Bureau of Savings Programs to oversee the Keystone Scholars program.

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and the Pennsylvania Treasury Department together are hosting an informative webinar to aid students and families in planning for financial success when seeking postsecondary education, including the importance of the PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan (GSP). The 1-hour event, scheduled for September 14 at 6:30 PM, will be hosted by PHEAA’s financial aid experts Linda Pacewicz and Dan Wray and Treasury’s PA 529 expert David Dominick.

Encourages Pennsylvanians to start saving during College Savings Month


Harrisburg, PA - September is College Savings Month and Treasurer Stacy Garrity celebrated today by announcing that more than one million withdrawals have been made from PA 529 College and Career Savings Program accounts. Since the program was created more than 30 years ago, account holders have used more than $5.6 billion to help pay for education expenses.
