Treasurer Stacy Garrity: $80 Million for Pennsylvanians to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday
Let freedom ring and search for unclaimed property to hear cha-ching!
Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity is celebrating 250 years of America’s independence by encouraging Pennsylvanians to search for unclaimed property. Treasury is working to return more than $5 billion, including $80 million available to claim for individuals, businesses and organizations with names that include Red, White, Blue, Flag, Freedom, Liberty, Life, Happiness, America, Fireworks and 250.
“As we celebrate 250 years of the greatest country on Earth this weekend, Pennsylvanians might discover some unexpected celebrations of their own by searching for unclaimed property. We’re working hard to return more than $5 billion to folks all across Pennsylvania, and I hope everyone will search so this money can get back into the hands of the people who earned it.”

Since taking office in 2021, Treasurer Garrity has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property. More than one in ten Pennsylvanians are owed unclaimed property, and the average value of a claim is over $1,000.
Unclaimed property includes things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks and more. It can also include physical items like collectible coins, jewelry and other family keepsakes – often the contents of forgotten safe deposit boxes.
Unclaimed property can belong to individuals, businesses, nonprofits and other organizations.
Anyone can search Treasury’s online database at any time by visiting patreasury.gov/unclaimed-property. Pennsylvanians who have lived in other states can also search for property at MissingMoney.com for money possibly waiting across the country.
